"The main theme throughout the book for me, were the references to bomb damaged London and I chose
to represent this through architectural elements, searchlight trails and burning. The book is sewn on to silk
covered linen tapes over spine guards made from a map of bomb damaged Pimlico and Chelsea where a
lot of the narrative was set. These maps also appear on the doublures and the back board and are transfer
printed. The boards are covered in cloth overlaid with dyed and appliqued silk panels with additional
artwork and collaged elements which relate to specific characters within the story. The leather head
and tail caps are also covered in painted silk over cream silk headbands."
