The
Northern Clemency by
Philip Hensher
Bound by Paul C Delrue
The
Northern Clemency is Philip Hensher's epic portrait of an entire era; a novel
concerned with the everyday lives of ordinary people and history on the move.
Set in Sheffield it charts the relationship between two families. In the
background England is changing; from a land of fire and industry to a gleaming
landscape of shop fronts and chain restaurants. A shift particularly marked
in the north with the Miner's strike of 1984, which has a drastic impact
on both families.
In mid green Harmatan goatskin. Full colour edges. Two leather panels bring
together the elements of countryside, modern travel up the motorway with
flowers to intrigue the reader. All is revealed in an important part of Hensher's
Novel. Flowery end leaves. The novel travels up the spine in Rutland hand
letters - always on the move.
Housed in a bright yellow up-and-over box, lined inside with rose pink suede.
