  • Graduated from Bristol University with a BSc. in Economics in 1973 followed by a time spent in antique restoration and retail management. Worked as a self-employed carpenter, alongside bookbinder and visiting lecturer in bookbinding at various institutes.
  • Started bookbinding evening classes at Brighton Polytechnic (now the University of Brighton) in 1986 and progressed to the Certificate Course in 1988. Awarded Certificate with Overall Commendation in 1991. Elected Licentiate of Designer Bookbinders in 1991, Fellow in 1995 and President from 2005-2007. Has exhibited widely and is represented in collections both private and institutional in the UK, Europe and the USA.
